Florence Holiday

Florence holidays are popular with those who want to learn more about Italy’s culture.  This is a city which is known for its wonderful architecture as well as its art.  But because of its university the city is very young and vibrant also. 

When you do holiday in Florence there are a number of wonderful sights for one to enjoy during your time there.  Certainly the most famous attraction which is visited by thousands each year is The Duomo which is located only a short distance from the main railway station in the city.  The Duomo also known as Santa Maria del Fiore is the fourth largest church in all of Europe and it is the orange tiled dome which draws visitors to it. 

Another attraction which is extremely popular with visitors to the city of Florence is the Galleria degli Uffizi.  It is within this buildings walls one will find the best collection of Italian paintings the world is ever likely to see.  It is here that one can truly enjoy and marvel at the splendor of Botticelli’s “Birth of Venus” statute. 

After all that sightseeing and wandering around the streets of Florence you are going to be feeling hungry.  In the Oltrarno quarter of the city you will find some truly superb restaurants offering you the chance to try and experience some real Tuscan cuisine.  Then as you wander back to your hotel after your meal you have the chance to view the many jewelry workshops that line the Ponte Vecchio which crosses over the River Arno.
