Lake Orta Italy
Lake Orta, Italy is one of the four main lakes that are situated in the northern part of Italy and is the most tranquil of them all.
Originally called Cusius this is a truly wonderful place to visit and offers you easy access to Lake Maggiore to the west. This lake
is believed to be part of a much larger body of water which allowed the Toce to flow south towards the city of Novara.
Although there are numerous places around its shore where one can stay during a visit to Lake Orta the main town where most will stay is Orta
San Giulio. This town is built on a peninsula which projects out into the lake on its eastern shore. However, if you are looking for
something a little quieter then consider trying to find accommodation in Omegna which is situated at the northern end of the Lake.
One hotel that may be worth considering staying at when visiting Lake Orta is Hotel San Rocco. This is situated right on the lake front
at Orta San Giulio and is just five minutes’ walk from the town’s main pedestrianised area.
Actually getting to this resort is relatively easy you can either fly to Malpensa Airport and then drive the 80kms to the Lake. The
other way is to take a bus from either the town of Gallarate or a train from Stresa, Verbania or Arona and these will get you directly to the
town of Orta San Giulio.
