Venice Attractions and things to do in Venice
When it comes to Venice attractions as you will soon discover when you do a quick search of the internet there are a large number of them to
choose from for you to see when on holiday in the city. The main attractions that many people will visit during their time in Venice
include The Grand Canal, St Mark’s Square, the Rialto Bridge and the Peggy Guggenheim Collection.
However, there are plenty of other attractions that one can enjoy, but it is best to be prepared for a wait in getting in to them.
Ideally if you want to avoid all the crowds when visiting Venice then it is best to go on holiday to the city during the off season, so in the
spring, autumn or winter months instead.
Other attractions that one can visit when in Venice include the Basilica dei Frari which is a Gothic Franciscan church built in the 14th
Century and is where Titian and the Venetian sculptor Antonio Canova are entombed.
Then there is Scuola di San Rocco (School of St Roch) which is renowned for the canvasses painted by Jacopo Tintoretto and which have adorn
the interior walls of the building for many centuries now. In order that the premises could be decorated to the standard you see today
those who became members of the school were required to pay an annual fee.
For those who would like to view some of the world’s finest art then a visit to the Gallerie dell’Academia is worthwhile. Here you have
the chance to view some of the most wonderful pieces of Venetian art dating from the 14th through to the 18th Centuries.
